Intro to Wood Turning: Spindles
with Henry Banks

Learn the basics of wood turning by using the lathe to shape green wood into spindles. An ample supply of red maple and birch will be available to create plinth, ogee, ovulo, beads, balls and quarters. The lathe is often called "the mother of all machines" because of its foundational role in woodworking and manufacturing. This class is appropriate for beginners as well as those who want to reacquaint themselves with the art of wood turning and the lathe.
Make a Dovetailed Toolbox
with Henry Banks

This 3-session class is a must for those interested in achieving a strong joint that resists being pulled apart. Dovetail joinery is typically used for furniture, cabinets, drawers and a wide range of other woodworking projects because it creates a strong, tight fit between pieces of wood. In these classes, you will first practice making pins and tails and then move on to cutting the dovetails for your toolbox.
This class is appropriate for beginners as well as those with experience.
Class is August 5, 12 and 19 from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm
