Introduction to Cyanotype
with Sheila Startup
We are thrilled to offer our first workshop in Cyanotype in 2025. Cyanotype is a type of photography that requires no camera. Instead, a UV light reactive solution covers paper and the image is formed from exposure to sunlight (or UV light when no sun). Cyanotype is defined by the distinctive blue and areas of pure white and shadow. Sheila Startup of Dancing Light Studio in Philadelphia will teach this class. She has mastered the art of cyanotype through studies at Tyler School of Art (in Philadelphia) and Maine Media. No experience necessary.
Introduction to Encaustics
with Heather Newton Brown
Professional artist Heather Newton Brown introduces us to the art of hot wax painting. The layered effects of using beeswax and resin creates rich optical patterns and lots of opportunities for creative expression. This workshop provides foundational techniques to safely and confidently apply and manipulate layers of encaustic wax, with the chance to experiment.
